XFINITY Home Security

In 2010, cable TV provider Comcast rebranded its home services under the name XFINITY. Security services from XFINITY became available that same year when the company introduced XFINITY alarm systems in Houston, Texas. XFINITY security has expanded into several additional markets since 2010, although Comcast has not disclosed how many security customers it has.

Operating as the XFINITY brand, Comcast has approximately 21 million video subscribers across the country. The company also provides home automation, high-speed Internet and phone service.

In February 2014, Comcast announced plans to acquire Time Warner Cable. The proposed acquisition would combine Comcast, the nation’s largest cable company, with the nation’s second-largest cable company.

Comcast, headquartered in Philadelphia, was founded in 1963.

XFINITY security packages offer many of the same components typically found in home alarm systems, such as motion sensors, door and window sensors, control keypads and cameras. In addition to security equipment, XFINITY offers home automation components for features like remote thermostat, lighting and small appliance control.
